Yesterday saw Kitchwin barn mates Dane Shadow and Duporth combine for a winner when the very impressive 2YO debutant Stick With Me (Duporth ex Shadow Miss, by Dane Shadow) won her first start by 2 lengths. That filly is now headed to the rich Inglis Classic race for 2YOs in a few weeks time.
Today it was Dane Shadow’s turn to sire an impressive winner and he duly obliged when his 6YO daughter Endless Shadow captured the $154,000 RM Williams MM Quality at the Gold Coast by three-quarters of a length for trainer Peter Hulbert and jockey Tegan Harrison. It was a superb training performance and Peter Hulbert revealed “this is our biggest win by far, my son and wife, we’re only a small team and this is pretty good”.
Pretty good indeed with the mare’s earnings now standing at $278,395. However, not to be outdone by his barn mate, Duporth didn’t have to wait too long to produce another impressive winner of his own. Less than ten minutes later Mister Rockstar won the 1000m BM70 event at Morphettville by half a length. It was an impressive first-up performance for the 3YO son of Duporth who had finished 2nd and 1st respectively at his previous two starts for trainer David Jolly. Mister Rockstar is out of the Rock of Gibraltar mare Molly Rocks and again highlights the great success Duporth is having with Danehill-line mares.
Dane Shadow will get another chance to steal the limelight tomorrow when the full-brother to Endless Shadow sells in session two of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale. Consigned by Kitchwin Hills, the colt is the fourth foal for Endless Maize, whose two foals to race – Endless Shadow and Endless Puzzle, are both winners. She also has an unraced 2YO by Duporth named Endless Don, in training with Tony McEvoy. This is the family of Stakes winners CORN MAIZCAY and BABY CORN – whose first foal is the multiple G1-placed CORNROW (by Duporth) who was Timeform rated 117 at 2.
